Volunteers Learn and Help at Brühl Old Age Home

Roshan and Albin, two young volunteers from Kerala, India, are spending their Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) at the Brühl Old Age Home. They help the residents with daily activities such as washing, eating, and moving around. They also spend time talking and listening to the elderly, making their days brighter. “We really enjoy our work here,” Roshan says. “It feels good to help the residents and be part of their daily life.” Last week, their friend Nikhil joined them at the old age home, bringing new energy to the team. Together, they support the residents and learn from their experiences. During their FSJ, all three volunteers have improved their German skills and gained valuable insight into working in healthcare. Their experience has now opened the door for Roshan and Albin to start a three-year nursing training in April 2026. The FSJ has not only given them practical experience but also a better understanding of life and work in Germany.
