A new and promising partnership has been established between the Missionaries of St. John the Baptist and the Caritasverband für die Diözese Trier e. V., marking a significant step forward in international cooperation, social responsibility, and youth empowerment. This cooperation takes place within the framework of the project „International Recruiting – Gewinnung und Integration internationaler Fachkräfte und Auszubildender“, coordinated by the Caritasverband für die Diözese Trier e.V.. The project is committed to creating fair, transparent, and sustainable pathways for international professionals and trainees to work and integrate into the German healthcare system. Signing of the Agreement This partnership was officially confirmed through the signing of a cooperation agreement by the General Superior, V. Rev. Fr. Mathew Kureekattil MSJ and the Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Majobi Amickattu MSJ of our Congregation. The agreement reflects the shared vision and mission of both institutions: to serve humanity with compassion, competence, and care — especially the elderly and the sick. Direct Pathway for Indian Youth: From Language Training to Nursing Careers A central part of this cooperation is the connection between our Johannes Language and Cultural Institute in Chittissery, Kerala and the various Old Age Care Homes under the Caritasverband in the Diocese of Trier. According to the agreement: • Young people from India who complete their German language studies (up to B2 level) at the Johannes Language and Cultural Institute in Chittissery, Kerala, will now have direct access to nursing education opportunities in Germany — particularly in Old Age Care Homes and healthcare facilities run by the Caritasverband für die Diözese Trier e. V. • Upon successful completion of their Ausbildung (nursing training) in Germany, the graduates will have the opportunity to be employed directly by Caritas institutions, without the involvement of private agencies or third-party recruiters. • This model will also be extended to qualified nurses who have already completed their training in India: they too will be given the possibility of direct employment in Caritas institutions — again without any intermediary agencies, ensuring a transparent, ethical, and cost-free employment process. This new path enables motivated young people and qualified nurses to build their professional careers in Germany in a fair and dignified manner — based solely on merit, motivation, and readiness to serve. This eliminates many of the financial and bureaucratic barriers that often stand in the way of motivated and capable youth who dream of studying and working in Germany. Focus on Social Mission and Ethical Recruitment Our Congregation has always believed in uplifting the lives of young people through education and values-based formation. Through this cooperation, we continue this mission with a special focus on ethical recruitment, transparency, and social responsibility. This initiative: • Supports young, motivated individuals with good character and a heart for service. • Prevents exploitation by providing direct placements without hidden costs or agency fees. • Ensures that students are well-prepared linguistically, culturally, and professionally before beginning their journey. A Win-Win Partnership For Caritas, this cooperation ensures a reliable and well-prepared group of future nurses, who are not only professionally qualified but also carry with them a deep sense of compassion and social commitment — values that are at the heart of both our Congregation and Caritas. For the young people in Kerala, this is a life-changing opportunity to build a future in Germany — not just as professionals, but as human beings who contribute meaningfully to society. Looking Ahead This partnership marks only the beginning. We envision further cooperation in other areas of social work and health care. Our long-term goal is to establish a model for fair and socially conscious international cooperation in the field of education, migration, and care work. We are grateful to the Caritasverband für die Diözese Trier e. V. for their trust and openness, and we look forward to a fruitful journey together — serving the people of today and forming the caregivers of tomorrow.
